August 20, 2025 — project reveal
Game Science announced Black Myth: Zhong Kui with a project page and CG reveal. The record established the title, developer, broad action-RPG direction, platform scope, and early development framing.
The reveal did not provide a release date, price, system requirements, final platform list, or full story connection to Black Myth: Wukong.
February 10, 2026 — seasonal special
An in-engine Year of the Horse special added new imagery but was described separately from the main gameplay record. Seasonal or promotional material should not be treated as confirmed canon unless the project identifies it that way.
The entry belongs in the timeline because it changes the public visual archive, not because it resolves the open product questions.
August 20, 2026 — gameplay trailer
The official 15-minute trailer added environments, combat, interface, character encounters, a boss sequence, fire and a red vertical form, a second combatant, and the closing Zhong Kui-and-tiger image.
These observations expand what can be described. They still do not publish the final systems, playable identity, date, editions, or requirements.
How this timeline updates
Only project-owned or equivalently primary sources can move an item into the confirmed record. Rumors may be noted as unsupported only when they create a recurring misconception worth correcting.
Each new entry preserves its date and source. Older unknowns remain historically accurate records of what had not yet been announced.
